This post has nothing to do with horses and everything to do with life.
As you may know on September 19th, 2017 a powerful earthquake hit my beloved Mexico City and 5 more states of the country. Thankfully, my loved ones and animals are fine, but many people are not and will not be for a long time.
At first I couldn’t believe it, then the sorrow and tears came as I watched the news and saw video after video of collapsing buildings and debree. Then the ”indifference” to cope the grief and now the acceptance and hope. The mexican people are strong and resilient, the type of people that gets unified by misfortune and instead of praying and staying at home they get out and do something to get through it. When they ask for no more blood donations and volunteers because they are too many you really feel proud to be a mexican.
But back to the point: how can life can change in a matter of minutes, in this case it only took 3 min to shape an entire generation of young ”Chilangos” (that’s the slang word for people native of Mexico City), only 3. And when it comes to that you question almost everything. For me it was: What I’m doing with my life? Am I truly happy? and If I die today, would I be happy with the life I have lived?
The answer of the first one is doing what I can to become what I want: a dressage Grand Prix rider ✓, the second one is a definitely yes! I’m really happy doing what I like and surrounded by amazing loving people, also a ✓. The third one is a bit more dodgy, I would like to change some timelines and minor stuff of the past. But the thing is that I have an enormous to do list still, that if I die today I will leave incomplete and in my book that is not acceptable. So from today on I will actively will try to cross things from that list so when the time comes I can proudly look back and see a fulfilled life.
So I asked my self those 3 questions and I’m asking them to you know:
- What are you doing with your life?
- Are you truly happy?
- If you die today you would be happy with the life you have lived?
If the answer to any of those questions is not satisfying enough, as me, you need to to some changes to live to the max this thing called life!
