Don’t get me wrong I am really not a good looser, but not with others, almost always with me because of the high standards I set for myself. And even if I win the class, sometimes I’m not happy with my performance, because I could have done this or that better, I know I’m a perfectionist …. but that’s a topic for another post.
But let’s get back on track: not getting the coveted 1st place ribbon. As I said before I do not like loosing but I can honestly recognize when someone was better than me and I’m honestly Ok with that. For me loosing is a motivator to do better, why? because I have to do MY BEST EVERY TIME and I usually don’t do it in my opinion. If I did my absolute best and another one beat me I have no problem what so ever, as it has happen to me before. But that rarely happens.
What really bugs me are the bad losers, those who get upset if someone else got a better score and gets mad with them for being better. Those people usually don’t do much because, usually other people are to blame not them.
In a show not so far back I tied in 1st place with another competitor that I have never seen before, for me I knew that was really not a good test, I made the 1st course error in my entire life and other mistakes, and was totally prepared for a bad score and, in my mind, last place. But apparently it wasn’t as bad and I was totally ready to do waaaayyyyy better the next day. In the award ceremony he was named first and went to the podium, then me. And I’m really not kidding or exaggerating when I say that I had to push my way into that 1st place in the podium, like really push. In that moment I became quite pissed because that is the definition of a bad loser. Someone who is so upset with not having the entire win for himself that acts like a toddler by not letting me be there with him. He really needs a reality check. But that’s his problem not mine.
That day taught me a couple of things:
1. Making a course error is not the end of the world.
2. Stop being soon overly dramatic after each test – well that hasn’t stick very well haha.
3. DO NOT BE A BAD LOOSER. Seriously. Don’t be like him, if things didn’t go your way, that’s life, move on to the next thing.
